One woman told Montgomery her children should be taken away from her and given to somebody who follows the teachings of the prophet. Montgomery and her husband had to step down from their church positions — he was the assistant bishop and she was a Sunday school teacher to teens — after parents flooded the bishop's office with complaints that they were teaching homosexual propaganda that would turn other kids gay.
Their story is featured in a documentary made by the Family Acceptance Project at San Francisco State University. The Montgomerys found the organization after getting frustrated with church therapists who told them Jordan was just going through a phase. The organization works with conservative religious families to help them navigate their doctrines while also accepting their gay children.
Caitlin Ryan, the project director, has written a pamphlet specifically designed for Mormons that has been distributed throughout LDS churches in Utah. She said she believes the church is now paying attention to research that shows suicide has been a major issue with LGBT Mormon youth for decades.

So when we have a sudden increase in teen suicide? When there is an increase in hate crimes and on campus/off campus bullying? What then? I would pull my gay or straight child so fast. I believe it will not be long before a lawsuit is filed... if it has not been filed as yet. The ACLU will most certainly want to weigh in if not enjoin a lawsuit.
This story makes me shudder at being human. Maybe we can teach another foreign language, maybe we can offer more AP classes for those students yearning to excel. With the school budgets the way they are this is what they go with?

So I've been thinking a great deal about the NSA reading my emails and poring over my facebook posts. I have come to a couple of conclusions. If these sharings have had any impact, the poor readers have by now, embraced their spirituality, rescued a pet from a shelter, started cooking yummy foods for themselves, considered writing a book or a blog, reached out to family near and far and hunted u...p their personal history via their ancestors. AND found some creative bliss. I can live with that. Judging by how much I love my family and friends and this without question includes my facebook friends, I simply consider the possibility that the hired NSA readers are better folks because of our posts! So there.

Organic Consumers Association SHAME ON YOU!!!! Do you employ the p.r. strategy of Karl Rove and Dick Cheney? Keep telling the lie long enough and frequently enough we will just roll over and be o.k.? Perhaps you have forgotten about social media. It may be that you assume that regular folks won't bother to research and pass the research along. SHAME ON YOU! Do you honestly thing people just like me won't compile the most complete list of products that Kellogg's produces so that we can boycott all of them? If you mismanage your consumers by underestimating them, then you mismanage your corporation. Your board of directors should realize this.
I am boycotting all Kellogg's products, including non-organic, so-called "natural" products from Kellogg subsidiary Kashi, until Kellogg's commits to using non-genetically engineered ingredients and stops contributing money to defeat GMO labeling laws and initiatives, like California's Proposition 37, for GMO labels.
Instead of Kashi, I'm buying Nature's Path. All of their products are certified organic and Non-GMO Project verified. Nature's Path gave $606,826 to California Right to Know for the ballot initiative to label GMOs, Proposition 37.
It's bad enough that Kashi and other Kellogg's brands use GMOs. But even worse, your company defends the use of GMOs, and the contamination of organic crops from drifting seeds and pollen. As an organic consumer who buys organic foods to avoid genetically engineered ingredients, I find this highly offensive. How can Kellogg's continue to support genetic engineering, knowing that it results in the contamination of organic crops? Kellogg's clearly has no respect for the consumer's right to choose what to eat!
And then there are the health and safety issues. According to Kellogg's, "Biotech ingredients are safe and have become common in the open market." Genetically engineered ingredients may be common, but there is no evidence that they are safe. The FDA does not safety-test genetically engineered foods before they reach consumers, and it has no power to require biotech companies like Monsanto to prove that their products are safe for human consumption.
Scientists reviewing data from Monsanto's own studies have concluded that "genetically engineered foods are neither sufficiently healthy or proper to be commercialized."
I'm all done buying Kashi and other Kellogg's brands until Kellogg's supports the consumer's right to know about GMOs!
